    A hug

    A Hug

It's wondrous what a hug can do,
A hug can cheer you when you're blue.
A hug can say, 'I love you so'
Or, 'I hate to see you go.'
A hug is, 'Welcome back again!'
And 'Great to see you!' or
    'Where've you been?'

    A hug can sooth a child's pain,
And bring a rainbow after rain.
The hug! There's just no doubt about it,
We scarcely could survive without it.

A hug delights and warms and charms.
It must be why we have arms.
Hugs are great for fathers and mothers,
Sweet for sisters, even for brothers.

And chances are, some favorite aunts
Love them more than potted plants.
Kittens crave them, Puppies love them,
Heads of state are not above them.

A hug can break the language barrier,
And make the dullest day seem merrier.
No need to fret about the store of 'em:
    The more you give,
The more there are of 'em.

So stretch those arms without delay
And give someone a hug today.

    Wees jezelf

    Ook al voel je
    Diep vanbinnen
    Zoveel pijn
    En teleurstelling

    Geef niet op
    Vecht en strijd
    Tegen de dingen
    Die nu niet goed gaan

    Laat het leven
    Niet leiden
    Door een ander
    Maar leidt het zelf

    Jij bent degene
    Die weet wat je wilt
    Die weet en voelt
    Wat jij belangrijk vindt

    Ga uit van alles
    Wat jij denkt
    Te moeten doen
    Van wat jij belangrijk vindt!

    Legend of the dogwood tree

When Christ was on earth, the dogwood grew
To a towering size with a lovely hue.

Its branches were strong and interwoven
For the cross of Christ its timbers were chosen.

Being distressed at the use of this wood
Christ made a promise which still holds good:

"Never again shall the dogwood grow
Large enough to be used so

Slender & twisted, it shall be
With blossoms like the cross for all to see.

As blood stains the petals marked in brown
The blossom's center wears a thorny crown.

All who see it will remember me
Crucified on a cross from the dogwood tree.

Cherished and protected this tree shall be
A reminder to all of my agony."

    I Carry Your Heart

I Carry Your Heart with Me

    by E.E.Cummings

I carry your heart with me (I carry it in
my heart) I am never without it (anywhere
I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)

I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) I want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)

The secret to a long Marriage

The Secret to a Long Marriage

A couple was celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. Their domestic tranquility had long been the talk of the town. "What a peaceful and loving couple." A local newspaper reporter was inquiring as to the secret of their long and happy marriage.

Well, it dates back to our honeymoon," explained the man. We visited the Grand Canyon and took a trip down to the bottom of the canyon on a pack mule.

We hadn't gone too far when my wife's mule stumbled. My wife quietly said, ‘that's once.’

We proceeded a little further and the mule stumbled again. Once more my wife quietly said, ‘That's twice.’

We hadn't gone a half-mile when the mule stumbled the third time. My wife quietly removed a revolver from her purse and shot the mule dead.

I started an angry protest over her treatment of the mule, when she looked at me, and quietly said, ‘That's once.’

And we lived happily ever after.
